About Senator McKissick

Floyd B. McKissick, Jr. is a North Carolina attorney who was selected on April 9, 2007 to replace the late Jeanne Hopkins Lucas in the North Carolina Senate. He was officially appointed to the Senate by Governor Mike Easley on April 18, 2007.

McKissick is the son of the late civil rights leader Floyd Mckissick.

At the time of his election to fill the vacancy in the Senate, McKissick was serving as chairman of the Durham County Democratic Party.  He is a former Durham City Council member.”
